LT Panel Installation, Maintenance and Upgrades
MCC panels, PCC panels, distribution boards and APFC panels for industrial and commercial applications. Aligned with IS 8623 and IEC 61439.

What does Panel Installation include?
The LT panel is the core of any electrical installation - factory, commercial building or housing society. Everything downstream depends on its rating, protection coordination and build quality. Our team handles panel installation from erection and bus-bar connections through to internal wiring, terminations, protection relay setting, testing and commissioning. We also carry out panel upgrades and maintenance on existing switchgear.
Included in this service
- MCC (Motor Control Centre) panel installation - DOL, star-delta, VFD feeders
- PCC (Power Control Centre) panel installation - incomer, bus coupler, outgoing feeders
- LT distribution board (DB) installation for commercial and residential buildings
- APFC (Automatic Power Factor Correction) panel installation and commissioning
- Changeover and AMF panel installation (manual and automatic)
- Control panel wiring - contactors, relays, timers, PLCs
- Bus-bar chamber and cable chamber installation
- Existing panel maintenance - contact cleaning, tightening, breaker testing
- Panel upgrade - adding feeders, replacing degraded MCCBs, adding protection relays
- Cable terminations and glanding - LT cables, control cables
- Protection relay setting and testing (overcurrent, earth fault)
- Commissioning test: insulation resistance, contact resistance, trip testing

How does the Panel Installation process work?
From inquiry to handover. Steps may vary depending on project size and site-specific conditions.
Drawing review
We review the panel GA drawing, single-line diagram and cable schedule before the panel arrives on site. Issues caught at this stage are far cheaper to fix than after installation.
Panel receipt and inspection
When the panel is delivered, we inspect it against the drawing before signing acceptance - bus-bar ratings, breaker ratings, internal wiring completeness, label accuracy.
Civil and mounting preparation
Panel foundation, mounting frame or fixing arrangement is verified. Cable entry knockouts or gland plates are confirmed. This is coordinated with the civil team before erection.
Erection and cable work
Panel is set, levelled and bolted. Cables are laid and glanded, lugs crimped and torqued. Control cables are run and terminated. All work follows the approved drawing.
Pre-energisation testing
Before any power is applied: insulation resistance check on bus bars and outgoing feeders, contact resistance measurement on main bus connections, continuity check on control wiring.
Energisation and commissioning
Stepwise energisation - incomer first, then outgoing feeders one at a time. Protection relay trip tests. Load application and load balance check. Commissioning report with all readings.
Indian Standards we align with
Our work for this service is aligned with the following Indian Standards and statutory regulations.
- IS 8623:2017 - Factory-built assemblies of LV switchgear and controlgear
- IEC 61439 - Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies
- IS 13947 - Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear components
- IS 732:2019 - Wiring installations (cable connections to panels)
- IS 3043:2018 - Earthing (panel enclosure earthing, earth bus)
- IE Rules 1956 - relevant installation and inspection rules
What differentiates us
Honest differentiators - what we actually do differently.
- Drawing review before installation - we catch specification mismatches before they become expensive problems.
- Torque tools and calibrated test equipment - bus-bar connections torqued to specification, not finger-tight.
- Full commissioning report - all test readings documented. This is the permanent record for the panel.
- We understand the difference between a DB, MCC and PCC - we do not treat all panels the same.
Common questions about this service
If your question is not here, WhatsApp us directly - we will give you a straight answer.
What is the difference between an MCC and a PCC?
A PCC (Power Control Centre) is the main incoming panel - it receives power from the transformer or service connection and feeds the outgoing distribution. An MCC (Motor Control Centre) is a downstream panel that consolidates all motor starters (DOL, star-delta, VFD) in one location. Many factories have both: PCC as the main incomer, MCC feeding the motors. Smaller factories often combine both functions in a single panel.
Do you supply the panel or just install?
We are an electrical contractor, not a panel manufacturer. We install panels supplied by the client or help coordinate procurement from a panel manufacturer as part of the project. When we help with procurement, we review the panel drawing and specification before the manufacturer builds it.
Can you upgrade an existing panel rather than replacing it?
Yes - if the panel enclosure and bus bars are in good condition, we can add feeders, replace degraded MCCBs, add protection relays or restructure the internal wiring. This is usually much cheaper than a full panel replacement and is often the right call for panels less than 10-15 years old.
What is an APFC panel and when do I need one?
APFC (Automatic Power Factor Correction) panel uses a set of capacitor banks and an automatic power factor relay to maintain the load power factor above a target level (typically 0.95 or as required by MSEDCL). Factories with significant inductive loads (motors, transformers) that are paying a power factor penalty on their electricity bill should evaluate an APFC. The payback period is typically 1-3 years depending on load profile and tariff.
