Electrical Safety Audit and Inspection Services
Systematic inspection of your electrical installation against IS 732, IS 3043 and factory safety norms. Written report with findings, photographs and recommendations.

What does Safety Audit include?
An electrical safety audit is a systematic inspection of your installation against established standards - IS 732, IS 3043, IE Rules and, where applicable, Factory Act requirements. The output is a written report that classifies findings into critical, urgent and advisory categories, with photographs, test readings and specific recommendations. It is useful before a factory inspection, after a major electrical incident, before renewing an insurance policy, or simply as a periodic sanity check.
Included in this service
- Earth-resistance measurement at all earth electrodes (calibrated earth tester)
- Insulation resistance (megger) testing of distribution cables and motor feeders
- ELCB and RCCB trip-time verification with a calibrated tester
- Panel board condition assessment - bus bars, contacts, breaker ratings, labelling
- Cable condition inspection - insulation, routing, termination quality, cable tray fill
- Equipment bonding check - motor frames, panel enclosures, cable armour bonding
- Overload protection sizing review (Is the MCB/MCCB rating appropriate for the cable?)
- Three-phase load balance measurement
- Emergency lighting and exit signage check
- Socket outlet and plug condition inspection
- Written audit report with classified findings and photographs

How does the Safety Audit process work?
From inquiry to handover. Steps may vary depending on project size and site-specific conditions.
Scope agreement
We agree on what the audit will cover - which buildings, which panels, whether motors and equipment feeders are included. Audit scope affects cost, so this is agreed upfront.
On-site inspection
A systematic walk-through with a checklist. We inspect visually first (cable routing, panel condition, labelling, earthing connections) then run instruments (earth tester, megger, RCCB tester). We photograph every finding.
Test readings
Earth resistance at every electrode (IS 3043 specifies limits). Insulation resistance on distribution cables, motor feeders. RCCB trip times. Phase current balance where the client wants load data.
Report preparation
Written report with an executive summary (what are the critical risks?), a detailed findings table (location, finding, standard reference, recommendation), photographs and test reading tables.
Report delivery and discussion
We deliver the report and walk through the critical and urgent findings with the facility manager or owner. We give honest time estimates for rectification - we do not panic-sell.
Optional rectification and close-out
We can carry out the rectification work, or you can use your own contractor. A follow-up verification visit confirms the critical and urgent items have been addressed.
Indian Standards we align with
Our work for this service is aligned with the following Indian Standards and statutory regulations.
- IS 732:2019 - Electrical wiring (cable sizing, protection, routing)
- IS 3043:2018 - Earthing (resistance limits, electrode types, bonding)
- IS 5216 - Safety procedures for electrical work
- IE Rules 1956 - Compliance reference for factory installations
- IS 13947 - Low-voltage switchgear ratings and markings
- Factory Act 1948 - Electrical safety obligations for factories
What differentiates us
Honest differentiators - what we actually do differently.
- Written report with photographs - not a verbal opinion. The report is a document you can act on, share with management or present to an inspector.
- We classify findings honestly - critical faults are called critical, not described vaguely to avoid alarming you. You need accurate information to make decisions.
- Independent view - we are not the contractor who installed the system, so we have no reason to hide what is wrong.
- Instrument-backed data - earth-resistance and insulation-resistance readings with calibrated instruments, not just visual assessment.
- No upselling during the audit - the audit report is the deliverable. If you want us to carry out the rectification, that is a separate contract.
Common questions about this service
If your question is not here, WhatsApp us directly - we will give you a straight answer.
Why would I need an electrical safety audit?
Common reasons: Factory Act inspection is coming up and you want to find and fix issues before the inspector does. Your insurance policy renewal asks for an electrical safety certificate. There has been a recent electrical incident (tripping, small fire, equipment damage) and you want to understand the root cause. A new facility manager or society committee wants to know the actual condition of the installation.
What standard are you auditing against?
The primary references are IS 732 (wiring installations), IS 3043 (earthing), IS 5216 (safety procedures) and IE Rules 1956. For factories, we also reference the Factory Act electrical safety requirements. For hospitals, we note that IS 732 has specific sections for medical locations.
How long does an audit take?
A small commercial premises (one panel, single floor) typically takes 2-3 hours on-site. A medium factory with 3-4 panels and 20-30 motors takes a full day. Larger facilities are discussed and scoped separately. Report preparation adds 2-3 working days after the site visit.
Do you provide a compliance certificate?
We provide a written audit report that documents the condition of your installation against IS standards. We do not issue a government or statutory certificate - those are issued by licensed electrical inspectors under the IE Rules. Our report is an engineering assessment, which is different but often more detailed and actionable.
What earth-resistance values do you require?
IS 3043 specifies the maximum permissible earth resistance. For equipment earthing in LT installations, the combined resistance of the earthing system should be 1 ohm or less. For structural earthing, typically 5 ohms. The actual limit depends on the system configuration and neutral earthing. We measure and report the values; you can see exactly where you stand.
Can I use your audit report for Factory Act compliance?
Our report documents findings and gives you a clear picture of what needs to be corrected before a factory inspection. The actual statutory compliance certificate under the Factory Act is issued by the state electrical inspectorate. Our report helps you prepare for that process and gives you documentation of corrective actions taken.
What does an electrical safety audit cost?
Audit cost depends on the size and complexity of the installation. Rough benchmarks: small commercial premises or housing society (1-2 panels, no industrial motors) - Rs 3,000 to 6,000. Small to medium factory (2-4 panels, 10-30 motors, MIDC unit) - Rs 8,000 to 18,000. Larger facilities with multiple buildings or complex distribution systems are quoted after a scope discussion. Report preparation is included in the quoted fee.
